AI + marketing for small business

AI was supposed to make your marketing easier. So why are you still doing half the bloody work twice?

You ask ChatGPT for a caption, an email, a campaign idea or a content plan.

Sometimes it helps. Sometimes it gives you something so generic you spend longer fixing it than you would have spent writing it yourself.

And while everyone keeps yelling about the next AI tool, you are still trying to work out one very normal thing:

How do I use AI to make my marketing faster and better without losing the voice, judgement and human bit that makes people choose me?

That is where this workshop starts.

Book My Spot

Is this you?

This is for you if you already use AI a little, you are responsible for marketing, and you want it doing more than giving you first drafts.

You do not need to be confident. You just need to have had a play.

Who this is not for

This is not AI 101, and it is not for someone who wants a tour of every AI tool available.

It is for people already doing the marketing who want AI to help them do that work better, faster and without flattening their voice.

Live AI + marketing workshop • Tanunda, Barossa

AI without the BS

Presented by Kat Crane

Do better marketing in less time without losing what makes your business yours.

A practical, face-to-face AI workshop for small business owners and marketers who are already dabbling in ChatGPT and want to use it properly for content, email, research, campaign planning, reporting and repeatable marketing work.

Bring one marketing job that is taking too much of your time. Leave with a working first version of a better way to do it with AI.

Before you arrive, I will look at the marketing job you submit and prepare the starting point around your business, your customer and the result you actually need.

Then, live in the room, we build it, test it, challenge it and make it useful.

Your marketing. Your business. Your judgement still firmly involved.

You do not need to become an AI marketer

You need to know what AI can carry, what still needs your brain and how to stop your marketing sounding like everybody else's.

You do not need 47 tools. You do not need a folder full of prompts. You do not need to hand your marketing over to a robot.

You need a practical way to use AI for the real marketing work already on your plate, then know where the same thinking can help elsewhere in the business.

Keep your judgement.
AI can help with the work. You still make the calls about your customer, offer and brand.

Keep your voice.
Your captions, emails, ideas and campaigns should still sound like your business.

Get some bloody time back.
That is the bit we are actually chasing.

What counts as a marketing job?

Much more than asking ChatGPT to write another caption.

Content + social media
Ideas, planning, repurposing, customer language, social SEO and creating content without the generic AI sludge.

EDM + email marketing
Newsletters, campaign structure, subject lines, follow-up emails and turning one idea into a useful sequence.

Research + customer insight
Competitor research, review mining, customer questions, trends, offer research and getting out of the Google rabbit hole faster.

Campaign planning
Launches, offers, messaging, content angles, channel planning and working out what needs to happen next.

Reporting + decision-making
Making sense of campaign results, spreadsheets and reports so the numbers actually tell you what to do next.

Repeatable marketing processes
The weekly job you rebuild from scratch, the process living in your head and the marketing task that keeps landing back on your plate.

And once you understand the method, you can absolutely use the same thinking for admin, systems and other parts of your business. Marketing is where we are starting.

The shift

Where your marketing is now → where we are going

Now

AI gives you a first draft, then you still do most of the work

You prompt, rewrite, second-guess, copy things between tools and keep rebuilding the same marketing jobs from scratch.

Next

AI has a clear role inside your marketing

You know what to give it, what context it needs, what you still need to check and how to keep the output sounding like your business.

How

We build it around one real marketing job

I prepare your starting point before you arrive. In the room, we set it up, add the right context, test it, challenge it and make it useful.

The 30-second version

If you only skim this page, get these four things.

01

It is live and face to face

Tuesday 27 October at 1918 Bistro + Grill in Tanunda.

02

You bring one real marketing job

Content, EDM, research, campaign planning, reporting or another repeatable marketing task that keeps eating your time.

03

I prepare before you arrive

You send me the marketing job first. I review it and prepare your personalised Job Map and starting point.

04

You leave with a working first version

We build and test it together in the room, then you get 14 days of email support for that workflow.

What this looks like in real life

I do not use AI to replace my marketing brain. I use it to stop wasting it on repetitive work.

I use AI for EDM planning, research, content scraping and ideation, customer emails, reporting, offer development, competitor research, pulling actions from documents and turning messy information into something useful.

It helps me get to the thinking faster, but I still decide what is right for the customer, what sounds like the brand and what actually makes sense commercially.

And yes, I also use it outside marketing. One Stripe and payment workflow job that could have chewed through around four days took roughly 40 minutes. That is the kind of time-saving mindset we are bringing back into your marketing.

Example marketing Job Map

Turn one campaign idea into an EDM + social plan

Before: Research scattered across tabs, blank-page staring, rewriting the same message for different channels and losing half a day getting everything aligned.

Goal: Start with one strong campaign idea and build a repeatable process for the email, social content and follow-up.

AI role: Organise the research, surface customer language, structure the campaign, generate options, repurpose and help check consistency.

Human role: Choose the angle, protect the brand voice, decide what the customer actually needs and approve what goes out.

Result: A clearer, faster marketing process you can use again instead of rebuilding the whole thing from scratch next time.

Example only. Your Job Map is built around the marketing task you submit before the workshop.

Not sure if your marketing task fits? Tell me when you register. If it is too broad, too sensitive or not the best marketing job to tackle first, I will help you narrow it down before the workshop.

Before you arrive

You send me the marketing job before the workshop. I do the thinking before you arrive.

After you book, you’ll complete a short intake form telling me the one marketing job you want off your plate, how you do it now, how long it takes, where it gets stuck and what a good result would look like.

I’ll review it before the workshop and prepare your Get This Shit Off My Plate Job Map, plus the bones of your personalised AI workflow.

So when we get to the hands-on part, we’re not staring at a blank screen wondering what to do. We already know the marketing job. Then we build the better way together.

Prepared before the workshop

Your Get This Shit Off My Plate Job Map

The marketing job, the outcome you actually want, how it works now, where AI may be useful, what needs to stay human and the first draft of the marketing workflow we’ll build out together.

I do the thinking before you arrive. We do the building together on the day.

What do I mean by workflow?

Nothing scary. It is simply a repeatable way to get the marketing job done.

What you give AI. What it does. What you check. What comes out the other end. That is the workflow.

What happens in the room

In the room, we learn it, build it, test it and try to break it.

01

First, we make AI make sense

What ChatGPT does well. Where Claude can be useful. What Projects, Work and Skills actually mean. What is worth paying attention to and what is just another shiny thing you do not need.

02

Then we stop it sounding like everyone else

We talk context, voice, files, examples, asking better questions and using AI to think rather than just pump out average content. Yes, marketing examples will absolutely come up. That is my world. The principles can be used elsewhere in your business too, but today we’re applying them to your marketing.

03

After coffee, we work on YOUR marketing

You have already sent me the marketing job. I have already reviewed it and prepared your starting point. Now we load your personalised workflow into ChatGPT and start adding the process, rules, safe files, customer context and business information it needs to actually do the job.

04

Then we try to break the bloody thing

We test it with the real-world messiness your business will throw at it, fix the gaps, make the output sound human and work out exactly where you still need to check, decide or step in.

The point is not to leave knowing more about AI. The point is to leave with something useful working in your marketing.

By lunchtime

You’ll have a working first version, not another list of things to try later.

You’ve already told me the marketing job before you arrive. The workshop is about getting the workflow set up, giving it the right information, testing it properly and making sure it actually does the bloody job.

01

Your personalised workflow is loaded

The starting point I’ve prepared from your marketing pre-work is sitting inside the tool and ready for us to work on.

02

It knows what it needs to know

We add your process, rules, safe files, examples and the business context it needs to stop guessing and start being useful.

03

We try to break the bloody thing

Missing information. Weird requests. Wrong assumptions. We want to find the gaps while I’m sitting next to you, not three days later when you’re swearing at your laptop.

04

It sounds and works like your business

Not generic AI sludge. We refine what comes out and keep the judgement, customer moments and decisions that need a human firmly with you.

05

You know how to use it again

You leave knowing how to run the workflow after the workshop, and how to recognise the next marketing job worth getting off your plate.

What you'll get

You leave with something working in your marketing, not another list of things to try later.

This is part learning and part implementation. The first half is about understanding how to use AI better, what the different tools can do and how to stop your business sounding and looking like everybody else's AI. The second half is where we open your actual marketing task and build.

Kat Crane running a workshop

3 practical hours with ChatGPT, Claude and current AI tools, minus the tech theatre and the 47-tool tour nobody asked for.

Your own personalised Job Map and first-draft AI workflow, prepared from the real marketing task you send me before the workshop.

Hands-on help setting it up, feeding it the right context, testing it and refining it so you leave with a working first version rather than homework.

14 days of email implementation support for the workflow we build, so if it gets weird in the real world, you can come back and we can work through the snag.

You will also learn how to talk to AI properly, make it ask you better questions, use it as a thinking partner, understand the difference between the main platforms and keep your judgement in the process.

What you are actually buying

Before, during and after: this is more than three hours in a room.

Before

I prepare the starting point

You send me the real marketing job. I review it, build your Job Map and prepare the bones of your personalised workflow before you arrive.

In the room

We build, test and refine it together

You learn what the tools can do, then we set up your workflow, give it the right context and make sure it actually works in your marketing.

After

You get 14 days to test it in real life

If the workflow we built gets stuck, gives you something weird or needs a small tweak, email me and I’ll help you work through it.

The 14 days of support covers the workflow we build during the workshop. New workflows, new business problems and bigger implementation jobs are separate support.

Kat Crane
Why learn this from me?

I’ve spent more than a decade helping businesses make their marketing work harder without making it harder.

I’m Kat Crane. I’ve worked in social media, digital marketing and strategy for more than a decade, with small businesses, regional businesses and teams who do not have endless time, endless people or endless budget.

I’ve built campaigns, trained business owners and teams, pulled apart marketing that was not working, fixed digital messes and sat beside plenty of people who thought they were “bad at tech”.

AI is simply the newest tool in that mix.

I use it every day for research, content, EDMs, customer communication, planning, reporting and the repetitive jobs that chew through time. I also know where it genuinely helps, where it creates more work and where a human still needs to make the call.

This workshop is not about chasing every shiny AI tool that launched this week.

We start with your customer, your marketing and what you are actually trying to achieve. Then we work out where AI can help carry the load without flattening your voice or making your business sound like everybody else’s.

You don't need to use everything. You just need to use it on purpose.

And yes, there will be proper coffee and tea available throughout the morning. There are limits to what I am willing to put regional business owners through. Sad conference coffee is one of them.

No hidden funnel

The workshop is complete. You do not need to buy anything else.

You are not coming for three hours only to discover the real answer lives inside another thing you now have to buy.

There is no hard sell during the session. If you want more help afterwards, one-on-one support and the Crane Creative Social Academy exist. You can ask me about them later. The workshop itself is complete.

Questions

The things people actually ask.

Is this an online workshop?

No. This one is deliberately live and face to face at 1918 Bistro + Grill in Tanunda. Bring the laptop, sit in the room, ask the questions and build the thing while I am there to help.

How do I know if the marketing job I want to bring will work?

You do not need to figure that out on your own. Tell me the marketing job when you register. I review every one before the workshop, and if yours is too big, too sensitive or simply not the best first job, I will help you narrow it down or choose a better one.

Do I need to know what a Skill, Project or workflow is?

No. That is quite literally part of what I am teaching you. When I say workflow, I simply mean a repeatable way to get the job done: what you give AI, what it does, what you check and what comes out the other end.

I am not technical. Will I keep up?

Yes. If you can use email and a web browser you can do everything we do on the day. There is no code, no jargon and no test at the end. If you get stuck, I come and sit next to you. We move together, and nobody gets left behind because they clicked the wrong bloody button.

Do I really need a paid AI account?

If you want to get actual work done with AI, I recommend having at least one paid account.

Free accounts are completely fine for having a poke around, but they have tighter limits and some tools or features may not be available. The last thing I want is for you to finally get your workflow working and then be told to come back later because you have hit a limit.

You do not need to pay for both ChatGPT and Claude. One paid account is enough for the workshop. Paid is not a magic privacy switch either, so we will also look at the data and privacy settings you should check before you start putting business information into any AI tool.

Is this another Crane Creative social media workshop?

Not exactly, but social media and marketing are absolutely in the room. Part of the first half is about using AI without turning your copy, graphics and ideas into the same generic stuff everyone else is putting online.

Social media is part of it, but this is broader marketing. Content, EDMs, customer communication, research, campaign planning, reporting and the repeatable marketing jobs that keep eating your time.

What if I work with confidential or sensitive client information?

If you’re a lawyer, accountant or work in a business with professional, privacy or confidentiality obligations, there may be things you cannot simply put into a public AI tool.

That does not mean AI is useless to you. It means we need to be smarter about what goes in.

We’ll talk about de-identifying information, using safe examples, keeping sensitive client data out of the workflow and checking the rules, policies and professional obligations that apply to your business.

Bring the process. You do not need to bring the client file.

Can I send someone from my team instead?

Absolutely, as long as they are the person who actually does the marketing job we are trying to fix. Email me and I'll swap the name over.

Do I have to talk in front of the room?

No. This is hands-on, but it is not performative. If speaking up in a room is not your thing, send me your questions before the day and I will make sure they are woven into the workshop.

What if my workflow is not perfect by 12:30?

Some marketing jobs are simple. Some are messy. The promise is not a magic button. You will leave with a working first version, understand how it works and know what still needs refining. I would rather tell you that than promise you AI fairy dust.

What happens if I get home and the workflow misbehaves?

You have 14 days of email implementation support for the workflow we build together. If it gets stuck, gives you something weird or needs a small tweak, reply to your follow-up email and I’ll help you work through it.

The support is for the workflow we built on the day. If you decide next week that you also want me to build your quoting system, inbox, content machine and entire business while we are there, that is a different conversation.

What if I cannot make it on the day?

Because there are only 15 spots and I prepare your personalised Job Map before the workshop, cancellations inside 7 days are non-refundable.

If you let me know more than 7 days before the workshop, I can refund your place or move you to the next available date.

Inside 7 days, you are welcome to transfer your place to someone else from your business or another attendee.

Your statutory rights under Australian Consumer Law still apply.

Still got a question?

Send it through.

If there is something you are wondering about before the workshop, ask me. And if speaking up in front of a room feels a bit scary, send the question beforehand and I will make sure it is covered on the day.

Come with one marketing job you're sick of doing the hard way

Leave with a smarter, faster way to get it done.
